Inside Our Floral Design Class: Learning the Art, Mastering the Craft
There is something deeply special about a room filled with flowers. The quiet rustle of foilage being placed. The soft concentration as stems are trimmed. The excitement when a design finally comes together exactly as imagined.
Recently, we had the privilege of hosting an immersive floral design class for a group of creative women who gathered to learn the artistry behind wedding and event florals. What unfolded over the course of the workshop was far more than simply arranging flowers... It was two full days of creativity, confidence building and professional skill development.
For many of the attendees, this was the beginning of a new creative journey.
For others it was about refining existing skills and learning how to elevate their work to a more professional standard.
And by the end of the class, each participant walked away with far more than just beautiful arrangements.
They left with knowledge, technique, inspiration and confidence.
A Hands-On Floral Design Experience
Our classes are designed to be highly practical and immersive. Rather than simply demonstrating arrangements from the front of the room, we guide attendees through the process step-by-step so they can experience the techniques firsthand.
Throughout the class, participants learned essential floral design foundations including:
- Proper flower preparation and conditioning
- Understanding colour palettes and floral balance
- Creating shape, structure and movement in arrangements
- Working with premium seasonal blooms
- Techniques used in professional wedding and event florals
- Mechanics that ensure arrangements are both beautiful and durable
These are the same methods used when designing floral for luxury weddings and events.
Because floral design is not just about making something look beautiful, it's about understanding the mechanics and structure that allow a design to hold its form, photograph beautifully and last throughout an event.
Learning the Details that Elevate Floral Work
One of the most powerful moments during the session is when attendees realise professional floral design is both an art and a science.
Small details make a significant difference.
The direction a flower faces.
The layering of textures.
The balance between negative space and fullness.
During the class we focused on helping attendees develop an eye for design, guiding them how to create arrangements that feel intentional, balanced or refined.
It is often these subtle details that transform a simple arrangement into something that looks professionally designed.
A Creative and Supportive Environment
Classes like these are always filled with laughter, curiosity and a shared appreciation for creativity.
Many attendees arrive feeling slightly nervous, unsure whether they will be able to create something beautiful. But within a short time, the room becomes a space of encouragement and discovery.
Participants begin experimenting with shapes, adjusting stems and discovering their own unique style.
By the end of the workshop, it is incredibly rewarding to see each person proudly holding their finished design.
No two arrangements ever look exactly the same. And that is part of the beauty of floral design.

What Makes Our Floral Classes Different
There are many floral courses available, but we intentionally designed this class to provide more than just basic flower arranging.
Our focus is on teaching industry-level techniques used in weddings and luxury events.
Participants receive guidance on both the creative and practical aspects of floral design, ensuring they leave with skills they can confidently apply in real-world settings.
We also keep our classes intimate and personalised, allowing each attendee to receive individual guidance and feedback throughout the day.
This ensures a much richer learning experience.
A Beautiful Ending to the 2 Days
As the class came to a close, the room was filled with stunning arrangements created by the attendees themselves.
The pride on their faces said everything.
Moments like these remind us why we love teaching. Watching creativity unfold, seeing confidence grow and knowing that these new skills may become part of someone's future business or creative journey.
It is always an honour to share this craft.
