A Safari Wedding that Reawakened our Calling

There are moments in business that feel like a divine reset. Moments that gently remind you of your calling, your craft and the beauty of what you were created to do. 

Our recent destination safari wedding was exactly that. 

What began as a wedding for an overseas family member from Australia became something far more meaningful. A celebration that gathered loved ones from Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States, Zimbabwe and South Africa, all converging in the African bush for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. 

It was intimate. 

It was wild. 

It was breathtaking. 

And for me, it became a powerful reminder of why I do what I do. 

Creating Beauty in the Heart of the Wild

Safari weddings are unlike any other celebration. There is no pristine ballrooms or controlled environments. Instead, you work with the landscape, the textures, the light, the wind, and the untamed rhythm of nature. 

Our vision was to curate an immersive wedding experience that felt deeply connected to the surroundings, while maintaining the refined elegance our couples expect. 

Every detail was considered: 

• Florals that echoed the organic beauty of the bush 
• Textures that felt luxurious yet grounded 
• Tablescapes that glowed warmly against the golden safari light
• Design elements that blended seamlessly into the landscape rather than competing with it

We weren't just designing decor. We were sculpting an experience.

When Nature Joins the Setup Team

Of course, the bush had more in store for us than just heat. At one point, monkeys began attempting to steal the vases from our setup tables, clearly our florals were just as appealing to them as they would be to our guests. 

Then came the moment that made everyone freeze. A staff member suddenly shouted... "MAMBA!.."

The words alone are enough to send chills through anyone familiar with the African bush. A black mamba had been spotted nearby, one of the most feared snakes in Africa. 

For a brief moment, setup paused as everyone carefully assessed the situation before continuing. 

Because when you choose a safari wedding... nature is always part of the guest list. 

When the Wind had its Own Plans 

Even the design elements had to face the bush's unpredictability. Our beautiful linen welcome sign, intended to hand from two trees, designed to softly greet guests as they arrived, had one major opponent.... the wind. 

The fabric simply would not cooperate. But this is where true collaboration shines.

The incredible team at Monate Lodge stepped in without hesitation. Seeing the challenge, they built a custom stand for the welcome sign on the spot, stabilising it against the wind and ensuring it still looked elegant and intentional. 

It was one of those moments that reminds you that events are never created alone. They are the result of teams who care deeply about the final experience.

The Reality Behind the Beauty

But as any seasoned event professional knows... The magic guests see is often built through moments of chaos behind the scenes.

And the African bush had a few surprises waiting for us. Working in the bush comes with conditions that most wedding venues simply don't prepare you for. 

The heat was relentless. 

Hours of setup under the African sun pushed by body to its limit and at one point I suffered heat stroke, becoming incredibly ill during preparations. For a moment, I honestly thought I might miss the very wedding we poured our hearts into creating. 

But something in me refused to give up. 

I rested briefly, gathered my strength and pulled myself together. When the celebration began, I was there, witnessing the joy of a day we had fought hard to bring to life. 

Because sometimes passion pushes you further than comfort ever could. 

And Then.... The Magic Happened 

When the guests arrived to the reception area, something shifted. 

The bush softened under the golden light of the sunset. 

The tables glowed under candlelight. 

The floral danced gently in the evening air. 

Guests from across the world gathered in the heart of the African wilderness laughing, embracing, celebrating love under a sky that felt impossibly vast. 

In that moment, none of the chaos mattered. 

Not the heat..

Not the monkeys... 

Not the wind... 

And not even the mama... 

All that remained was the beauty of the experience we created. 

The Lesson This Wedding Gave Me

This wedding was more than just another event. It was a turning point. 

Truthfully, it had been some time since we had taken on a wedding of this scale and depth. And stepping back into this space reminded me of something powerful....

This is what we are meant to do... 

The artistry.. 

The planning.. 

The transformation of empty spaces into unforgettable moments... 

It reminded me that our work goes far and beyond flowers, tables or timelines. 

We create environments where memories are made. 

And sometimes, the greatest challenges are simply part of the process that shapes something extraordinary. 

A New Chapter Begins 

This experience reignited something something within me. 

It awakened my passion for high-touch wedding planning and immersive design. 

It reminded me of the artistry, intention and sophistication we bring to every event we curate. 

And it inspired me to step boldly back into offering our signature services:
